At round one of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in Chandler, Arizona, 15 year old racer Eliott Watson took his first short course victory in the pro class driving his Alumi Craft Pro Buggy. Watson is just the latest of many fast young racers who have launched their careers behind the wheel on an Alumi Craft. Watson’s win is especially impressive because he had to beat all the other Alumi Crafts in the field driven by equally accomplished drivers like Darren Hardesty Jr, Sterling Cling, and Taylor Atchison.

“My new Alumi Craft pro buggy handled awesome, right out of the box,” said Watson, “It is easy to drive; I became comfortable in the car right away. It was my second time on this track and I qualified first. I got out to the lead early and opened a 3 to 4 second gap over second place at the finish. To get our first win of the season in round one is a huge confidence booster. Ours plans now are to fight for the championship.”

Halfway around the World on the Australian continent, 70 year old Reg Owen drove his Alumi Craft Pro Buggy to 2nd in class, sixth overall at theARB Griffith 400; a desert race. In the ARB series, a Pro Buggy is V8 powered and similar to the Unlimited Class One cars that race in the U.S. and Baja, Mexico. The race was 4 laps of a 100km track made up of the fastest straight-a-ways, and roughest, and tightest, tree sections in the country.

“As he is now 70 and has not driven a buggy for well over 25 years, this is as good as a win,” said Matthew Owen, Reg Owen’s son and defending Pro Buggy Champion, “He has been racing a production 4wd for a long time now but has not been in a buggy for many years. He had a good weekend; his fastest lap was the last lap he drove. He got faster and more comfortable in the Alumi Craft on every lap. He was very impressed with how well it handled in the rough and how stable it is at 200 kph”, (124 mph!).
