Battle at PRIMM Challenges ROCKSTAR's MacCachren while taking 1600 Single Buggy Victory by seconds!
LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Rob MacCachren, the reigning SNORE 1600 and OVERALL Series Champion, arrived to Primm, Nevada to defend his 2010 Championship title against a huge field of ultra competitive 1600 racers all hoping to unseat the undisputed king of 1600 racing.
The first race of the 2010 SNORE Series saw over 400 racers roll through contingency and technical inspection. Hosted at the Buffalo Bill's Casino on the border of California and Nevada, race fans and teams lined the race course along the huge spectator area. Inclement weather threatened to turn the barren desert into a mud bog, however the storm front held off all weekend long making for near perfect racing conditions.
On day one of the two day closed course desert race, Rob MacCachren unleashed the ROCKSTAR Energy Racing 1600 single-seat Alumi Craft race car and claimed the top spot after starting the race in the middle of the pack. The reigning champ pushed hard picking off car-after-car. He ended his 60-mile race day in the top spot with a one minute and one second lead over Adam Pfankuch.
Sunday's final 60-miles was not without drama. MacCachren, Pfankuch, Hawley and McMillin all started on the front row in Sunday's race and as quick as the green flag dropped the four racers charged wheel-to-wheel in search of the lead. For the first time in many races, MacCachren was able to pull away from the others at the line and run in front in clean air.
The ROCKSTAR Energy Racing #1600 race car began to open up the gap from the field, however, Adam Pflankuch stayed very close to the bumper of the Alumi Craft-built car. In fact, mile-after-mile resulted in Pfankuch and MacCachren running within seconds of each other nearly the entire race.
MacCachren led physically as well as on corrected time leading into the final lap and with only 6-miles left in the race the radio crackled from the #1600 race car. "I think I broke the front end."
MacCachren punished his race car all weekend long and with 6-miles to go the right front spindle broke apart. In classic Rob MacCachren fashion, he nursed his ROCKSTAR Energy Racing single-seat Alumi Craft race car through the desert ever so gingerly.
Pfankuch passed MacCachren along the lakebed coming into the final mile down through main pit and took the checkered flag first physically. Although, MacCachren wasn't far behind and as he took the checkered flag in his broken race car, he earned his second 1600 victory of the 2010 season.
MacCachren said at the finish line, "Well it wasn't easy today. We had to overcome some obstacles and nurse the broken spindle to the finish line, but we ended up making it. Adam and Luke ran real fast today and I'm happy we were able to win after having some issues late in this race. I can't say enough about everyone who helps our program all season long. We have some great sponsors that contribute in all aspects of my racing endeavors and that's how we're able to race all season long. Thanks to everyone for your continued support."

MacCACHREN PREVAILS at Barstow FREEDOM 250 Desert Race
MacCachren DOMINATES 1600 Class / Misses OVERALL by 1 minute 54 seconds to Class 1 cars!

Barstow, California - Rockstar Energy Racing's ROCKSTAR, Rob MacCachren, settled into his Mastercraft Race Seats 3G suspension seat for what would be another brutal day at the office for the off road racing champion. The 2009 version of the MORE Freedom 250 desert race kicked off at 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening, as the blazing desert sun baked thousands of race fans who came out to the Mojave desert night race.
The barren Mojave Desert near Barstow, California, was transformed for about 24 hours, into a miniature city of desert racers and their loyal fans. Motor homes, trailers, campers and shade awnings lined the popular 2.5 mile section near the start/finish line. As the sun rose above the desert, early afternoon temperatures peaked round 115 degrees, racers continued testing and tuning there race trucks and cars for the 6:00 p.m. start.
Racing this past weekend marked MacCachren's official "racing" return to Barstow in
several years. MacCachren regularly tests the ROCKSTAR/Riviera Racing trophy truck in the same area, but it has been several seasons since he entered a race that featured the difficult Barstow terrain. Rob MacCachren is no stranger to Barstow, as he raced in the late 1980's through the mid-1990's, when the Barstow Fireworks 250 was held around the same area.
As the sun faded, MacCachren climbed into the Rockstar Energy Racing #1603 car for what ended up being a 4 hour 32 minutes' day in the office. He started near the back of the 17-car field and as the green flag dropped, he began picking off the competition one-by-one.
MORE officials announced the 130 race entries would be starting every 10 seconds. Blinding heavy dust, combined with triple-digit heat, set the stage for slower than normal first lap speeds, but that didn't slow down Rob MacCachren, who has won four consecutive 1600 races so far in 2009.
After the first 36-mile lap, MacCachren set a torrid pace across the rocky desert. With 174-miles left in the race, the multiple time 1600 racing champion focused on the overall leader of the race, who was racing a 600 horsepower Class 1 Unlimited car.
With each lap, the Las Vegas-based off road racing veteran closed in on the overall leaders and at about 10:40 p.m., the familiar sound of the FAT Performance Racing Engine signaled the charge of the #1603 racing the last few hundreds yards towards the checkered flag.
Climbing from the top of the single-seat Alumicraft-built racecar, MacCachren said, "It was hot and miserable in the car today, but I had a great run. This AlumiCraft 1600 car was near perfect today and I used up just about all my FOX RACING SHOX suspension on the Barstow bumps, but FOX Shox gave me the chance to run up front all night long. We didn't have a single flat tire on our BFGoodrich Tires and I have to thank my crew and our marketing partners who continue to support our desert racing programs," commented the winning racer.
MacCachren's AlumiCraft is fitted with 5-KC HiLites HID lights, which illuminated the black desert darkness allowing the veteran racer to push his single-seat 1600 car to full tilt in his race for the overall victory. "The KC HiLites were absolutely perfect all night long, they are incredibly lightweight and bright," said the smiling Class 1600 winner.
MacCachren drove the #1603 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink Racing 1600 buggy to an impressive win in the Pro 1600 race. He nearly missed winning the overall victory by 1 minute and 54 seconds to the 600 horsepower Class 1 cars competing in the race. The Class 1 Unlimited race cars feature 24" inches of front and rear suspension travel along with unlimited horsepower, while MacCachren's 1600 race car boasts 70 horsepower from an air-cooled VW 1600cc powerplant along with much less suspension.
Rob MacCachren is the team owner/driver of Rockstar Energy Drink Racing. MacCachren returns to the race action at the 2009 TORC Series on August 8-9 for Rounds 9-10 in Bark River, Michigan.
The 2009 TRAXXAS TORC Series Rounds 7-8 were broadcasted on ESPN2 on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. Check your local listings for re-broadcast times near you and visit www.torcseries.com for more information.

DESERT DOMINATION: MacCachren SWEEPS SNORE Claiming Triple Crown
LAS VEGAS - Among Nevada's barren desert is a town that could be considered Nevada's secret little gem. Located in southeastern Nevada, the quiet town of Caliente, Nevada is the only incorporated community in Lincoln County. Settled in the1860's and coined with the name Caliente in 1901, this small community was built upon the railroad and mining industries in the early days.

This past weekend, one of off road racing's winningest champions of all time, Rob MacCachren, returned to Caliente, Nevada for the annual SNORE Caliente 250 desert race. "The Caliente 250 has long been a favorite race of mine. The mountains, streams and beautiful scenery are second to none for an off road race," commented the Las Vegas off road racing champion.
MacCachren unleashed his wicked desert domination on a full field of 1600 racers as he drove to victory in his third SNORE race in a row, with a winning time of 5:28:09. In fact, MacCachren's overall time was only 11 minutes and 30 seconds off the overall winner of the race who raced a Class 1 Unlimited car.
The Rockstar Energy Racing team owner took possession of his Alumi Craft-built single seat 1600 car just before the start of the 2009 racing season and started from the back of the field in the season opening race, The Battle at Primm. Over the two-day race, MacCachren soared through a stacked field before being crowned the 1600 champ.
At this year's historic MINT 400, MacCachren reigned as the 1600 winner, beating the other 1600 racers and the majority of the entire field finishing 7th OVERALL. With his 80-horsepower Alumi Craft car, the champion desert racer outclassed the bulk of the unlimited trucks and buggies, many that sport over 700 horsepower power plants.
The Caliente 250 was no different, as a slew of 1600 racers all wanted a piece of MacCachren's 1600 race action in hoping to beat him at the game he's nearly perfected. While in the midst of racing multiple off road series among three different racing disciplines, the 44-year old Rockstar Energy Drink athlete overcame his hectic day-to-day racing schedule and silenced the competition with nothing more than pure talent captivating the attention of off road race fans everywhere.
The Rockstar Energy Racing 1600 car was fast all day long as MacCachren weaved a magical web of desert domination through the Caliente, Nevada countryside. Whether he was submarining through the deep streams or blasting up the steep silt-filled mountain trails, his line ultimately was the winning line.
"Alumi Craft builds a great car, FAT Performance gave us an awesome engine and the four corners of this car are supported by FOX Racing Shox and BFGoodrich Tires. Rockstar Energy Drink keeps me focused on being fast and Mastercraft Seats let me abuse my body to the extreme. Everything was near perfect today and we had another solid race. I really like the Caliente area it's always been one of my favorite races. SNORE puts on a great series and we're very happy to be involved with SNORE this season," said a smiling MacCachren.
MacCachren is in the midst of beginning his 2009 short course racing season as the 2009 TORC Series opener kicks off on May 15 at Texas Motor Speedway. The race action doesn't stop for the off road racing champion as he races two short course races in May and the following weekend he heads to Mexico's Baja Peninsula for the SCORE Baja 500 where he is slated to race the #3 Rockstar Energy Drink/Riviera Racing Trophy Truck.

Rockstar Energy Racing's Rob MacCahren INVINCIBLE at '09 Mint 400
Las Vegas, Nevada (March 30, 2009) Rockstar Energy Racing’s Rob MacCachren defied the majority of the odds in what may be considered one of the most incredible racing wins in the history of the legendary Mint 400. Facing several hundred competitors, all vying for a piece of the latest 2009 edition of the MINT 400, Las Vegas racer, Rob MacCachren, drove his single-seat Alumi Craft 1600 race car to victory among the nation’s top 1600 desert racers.
What is so incredible, however, is that the talented MacCachren finished the race in 8th position physically and although the official results have yet to be released, it appears that Rob may have finished 8th overall… all of this in an Alumi Craft limited 1600 race car!
It was a flawless day for the off road racing legend who celebrated his 44th birthday only days before the Mint 400.
MacCachren’s solo effort over the roughest terrain ever raced in the United States will go down as one of the Mint 400 classics.
The early morning start amid some of the most difficult and blinding silt ever experienced by racers, led to a massive pile up of race cars only 4.5 miles off the start. The silt combined with the blinding rising sun tested the ultimate endurance of man and machine. The black 1600 Rockstar Energy Racing single-seat buggy slithered through the carnage and when MacCachren came out of the silt bed unscathed, he was all business.
He never got out of his Mastercraft 3G office chair throughout the nearly 10 hour ordeal and he was in good spirits as he bombed through the desert, passing the competition, all the while communicating with his race team.
“The amount of race vehicles on the course was amazing. After the first lap there were cars and trucks strewn out everywhere. I was surprised by the amount of quality teams sidelined early in the race, but this area north of Las Vegas has not been raced on in over ten years and we expected it to be bad,” commented MacCachren at the finish line.
“The Rockstar Energy Racing 1600 buggy was flawless today. I have to thank everyone that is part of this program starting with Rockstar, Alumi Craft and John Cooley who built this car, FOX Racing Shox, BFGoodrich Tires, Kartek, Folts Transmissions, FAT Performance Racing Engines along with all of our associate sponsors that make such great contributions to our single-buggy program. My prep guy, Ian Beaman, did a fantastic job at prepping the car along with Brian Lopez and the crew that supported me on the race course. It’s great to win, but this Mint 400 victory is really really sweet.”
Rob MacCachren was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and first attended the Mint 400 race as a young child with his father and grandfather, both desert racers. Following in the footsteps of the elder MacCachren’s, the multi-time championship off road racer has staked a big claim in the Mint 400 heritage with his tremendous wild run that will not soon be forgotten.
Rob MacCachren is sponsored by ROCKSTAR Energy Drink , BFGoodrich Tires, ALUMI CRAFT, FOX RACING SHOX, Fat Performance, KC Hi-Lites, Dave FOLTS Transmission, KARTEK, Pro-AM, Mastercraft Race Seats and Nevada OFFROAD Buggy.
